Polling Place Review 2023

A polling districts and polling places review involving public and stakeholder consultation launched on 2 October 2023, and concluding on 1 December 2023.

In accordance with the Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006   – we will be conducting a review of all polling districts and polling places in the district’s parliamentary constituencies.

Background information

The review seeks to ensure that all electors have reasonable facilities for the purposes of voting and to ensure that polling places are accessible to disabled electors. The formal consultation period commences on Monday 2 October 2023 and ends on Monday 30 October 2023, with the review being completed in November 2023 subject to final approval by the Council at its meeting on Tuesday 28 November 2023.

polling district is a smaller part of an electoral area. They can be thought of as the building blocks from which different council wards and parliamentary constituencies are built from.  A polling district cannot be shared between two electoral areas – such as a parish.

A polling place is the venue at which a polling station(s) is located

polling station is the room or space where voting takes place

Responses to Consultation

Who can respond to the consultation?

The Council welcomes feedback and comments from any interested person or body on proposals for polling districts and polling places. Local political parties and elected members will be consulted and views are invited from local residents, as well as local community groups and anyone having particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability. 

How can I respond to the consultation?

All submissions should be sent in writing to the address below or by email to electoral@lincoln.gov.uk by no later than Monday 30 October 2023:

What happens next?

Representations on the Returning Officer’s proposals will be open for public inspection and will be taken into account when the final report is prepared for consideration by the Council at its meeting on Tuesday 28 November 2023.  Any changes approved at that meeting will be implemented in time for the City of Lincoln Council elections on 2 May 2024.
